Domestic Violence-Related Shooting in the 10000 Block of E Girard Ave

Denver – Tuesday, October 12, 2021 – On Monday, October 11, 2021, at 11:35 p.m., Denver Police officers responded to the 10000 block of E. Girard Ave. on a reported domestic violence-related shooting. Two shooting victims were transported to an area hospital. A teenage juvenile female (the domestic violence victim in this incident) is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, and an adult male victim is currently in critical, but stable condition.

On-scene, officers located a deceased adult male who investigators have determined is the suspect in this shooting. The suspect died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

During this incident, an infant who is the child of the juvenile female victim and the suspect, was reported to have been dropped by the suspect, resulting in serious injuries. The child was also transported to an area hospital and is currently in critical condition.

This investigation remains active and ongoing. Per standard procedure, the identity of the deceased suspect and the cause and manner of death will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
