Spurred on by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart City Challenge, Denver is aggressively embracing and testing new and better ways to deploy technology and use data to improve services for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Guided by grounded principles and defined portfolios, Denver Smart City is knocking down silos between departments, optimizing city operations, and addressing some of our biggest challenges: crime, traffic congestion, vehicle crashes, air pollution, and economic imbalances.
The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Smart City Challenge galvanized the City and County of Denver to think of transformative, multidisciplinary Smart City projects that could improve mobility. Denver was one of seven national finalists provided the opportunity to think beyond normal budget constraints, knowledge barriers and technological hurdles to identify a concrete path forward with a focus on innovative technologies, vehicle electrification and connected neighborhoods.
